Rep. Peter DeFazio: I will not apologize for ‘trying to get something done’

Rep. Pete DeFaza (D-Ore.) is calling on President Donald Trump to apologize for calling him out for using his own “tough guy” image.

DeFazeos remarks come after the president, during a press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday, called DeFazero, a California Democrat, a “f—ing coward.”

The president’s words prompted the California lawmaker to share a photo of the pair standing side by side.

In it, DeFazaros hand is crossed over his heart, a symbol of his desire to support a “bipartisan agenda.”

The photo, shared by The Hill, is accompanied by a photo caption that reads, “You gotta get this guy!”

“It’s unfortunate that President Trump thinks that he can bully and intimidate the press and the public, and that he has the right to make those statements,” DeFazios said in a statement.

“It is imperative that he acknowledge that he did not do so, and he must do so with humility and respect.”

The Hill reached out to DeFazo for comment and will update this post if we receive a response.
